DONATION TO DIABETES UK

I am pleased to announce that James Smith managed to complete the Great North run in just over 2 hours - well done to him!

I therefore donated the proceeds made via the paperback & revamped ebook of "LOVE IS IN THE AIR" to his just giving page which will give the proceeds directly to Diabetes UK.

This amounted to only £9.43, but James had already added an initial sum of £39.57 raised via the first edition of the anthology.

Therefore, proceeds raised to date are £39.57.

Now, I promised to match sales up to the race - so I matched the sum and added a personal donation of £39.57 (subsidised by sales of HYBRID and COMPLICATIONS via Smashwords & Amazon).

Sales depend on marketing and public interest - so if you would like to support a good cause then please check out the anthologies on this site or check out the children's ones on kids4books.

If you are interested in submitting a story for the next collection please read the submissions guidelines and get in touch. I would love to have over 20 stories in the next one - I currently only have 3! I am thinking of supporting a local charity like Foodbank for the next one.

Please spread the word and thanks for reading,

Vanessa Wester

OUT OF DARKNESS - SECOND EDITION

I have to admit that I have spent many, many days (yes, that's how long it takes) updating both "Love is in the Air" and "Out of Darkness."

I am extremely proud of both books. I think they look great and I have learnt a lot along the road of self publishing by doing these collections! I hope you like them too...

They both have a brand new cover design, new interior layout, and extra tweaks here and there...

OUT OF DARKNESS (Available as an ebook and paperback)

UK

US (New Paperback link) - for some reason Amazon.com do not automatically link editions whereas Amazon.co.uk do - I will fix this ASAP!

I have also included 4 new authors to Out of Darkness...

Samantha Bacchus already featured in "A Festive Feast"

Katherine Hetzel featured in "Love is in the Air"

Jody Klaire featured in "Reading is Magic" (visit www.kids4books.blogspot.com for more information).

And a brand new author - Madeline Dyer - WELCOME! She is so proactive she has already blogged about the collection and beaten me to it - Great stuff!!!

"When I have an idea for a story that I’m really excited about I’ll try to ‘hold off’ writing it for as long as possible, so I can develop it in her mind and add new twists to the plot. And when it eventually comes to the actual writing stage I’ll write out a brief outline, add more detail, do research into the background of the story (where’s it is going to be set e.t.c) and then write the scenes that are the most exciting, usually the climax of the plot. And then it’s just the rest of the book to write that’s left. Easy!"

I hope you have a look at our collections,

Enjoy the heat (if in the UK - I need a fan...)

Speak soon,
Vanessa :)

UPDATED VERSION OF "LOVE IS IN THE AIR"

Please check out the links for the new version of "Love is in the Air."

UK

US

I have changed the layout of both the ebook and paperback, updated a brand new cover, changed the description to reflect the fact it is not just a Valentine's collection, and included a new author (as mentioned on the previous post).

I hope you can all spread the word about the collection and continue to raise money for Diabetes UK.

So far we have raised £30.14 - please go to the "Charities" tab to find out about James's just giving page... I will shortly be adding to the pot with the proceeds from the paperback (I hope - still waiting for Amazon).

I am also in the process of updating Out of Darkness and have four new authors to add to our "Group." More details to follow when I have time... (how long is a piece of string?)

Thanks for reading and for showing an interest in our fundraising attempts!

Have an amazing day :)

Vanessa

NEW CHILDREN'S COLLECTIONS

As some of you may notice from the previous post, no new collection has featured here for May... this is because I published a children's collection and decided to set up a brand new blogsite.

I felt this was important since I did not want to direct children to adult collections!

The new blog is called KIDS4BOOKS - click to view

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Reading-Magic-Collection-Childrens-Stories/dp/149037664X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1372800617&sr=1-1

I have also been busy updating some of the original collections...

I am currently updating "Love is in the Air"to include a story by David Corbett... it is live as an eBook in the US already as a 2nd Edition! I still need to combine them all... (wish me luck)

http://www.amazon.com/Love-Air-ebook/dp/B00DS4PJVK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372976447&sr=8-1&keywords=love+is+in+the+air+vanessa+wester

Hope you all have a look at the submissions tab, the next project is coming up - deadline 31st July!

Best regards,
Vanessa

Welcome DAVID :)

David Corbett was born in Lincolnshire, but grew up in north east England.  He is a lifelong supporter of Newcastle United. He went to the University of Birmingham where he obtained a degree in mathematics.
His career as an engineer led him to travel all over the United Kingdom. A move to the global engineering giant ABB led to assignments all over the world from a permanent base in Switzerland where he now lives and works. It also led to a passion for languages. David speaks English, German and Dutch fluently and can survive in French and Russian.

His hobbies included singing and playing guitar in a local band and also singing in a village choir. The song-writing with the band has now developed into a general love of creative writing.
